Our Programs

Stock market? Investing? The economy? These words feel intimidating, and we believe in building a world where they aren’t. For too long, basic financial literacy has been inaccessible to most people. Basic concepts are gate kept behind complex jargon, and it doesn’t have to be that way.

Our mission is simple: to democratise financial information so that it’s accessible for everyone.

Our financial literacy program is designed by young people, for young people, and facilitated by young people to make our educational information as relevant and practical as possible. To date, 276 young people have attended our financial literacy workshops.

‘While I had heard of certain finance terms before, I had always been confused about their meaning, and what importance it would be to me. However Gen Z Abroad’s presentation helped clear up the confusion and make finances seem manageable to me. Their use of high school representatives also made the presentation less daunting and friendlier. I can’t wait to try and put these new skills to use!’ - Meera, Year 10

On January 7th 2025 at the Local Hotel, South Fremantle/Walyalup, we held our first community event to support young people in the cost of living crisis. Money Talk was an educational space for Gen Z to learn essential adulthood skills such as investing, budgeting, and superannuation together. We also gave away $80 share house grocery relief vouchers to 3 local share houses in need to provide some cost of living relief.

In March, Money Talk expanded across the country with our first event in Melbourne/Naarm being hosted by Tia at Mannix College to support students learn about essential personal finance topics and scholarship opportunities.

In the second half of this year, Frankie and Sarah led our financial literacy workshops at their high school in Brisbane. These events were particularly special, as many teen attendees had never heard of tax returns before our workshops and went home with newfound confidence for the future.

After receiving great feedback from attendees at these events, we are now planning to expand our impact with more events to be held across Australia.
